Altoduo is a fun, experimental, instrumental mathrock-chillhop-newage band based in Singapore.
Altoduo is the collaborative product of fusion musicians Winifred Tan, John Paul Kwan and sessionists Nicole Tay / Jonathan Tu (for live performances). Their unique musical expressions fuses melodic bass lines, complex drumming & jazzy new-age elements.
Hailed as “Singapore’s bass-heavy mathrock duo”, Altoduo is signed to Australian-Southeast Asian indie label Dark Escapes Music. The band has released 14 tracks to date, and are always welcoming collaborations with local & overseas artists. They’ve collaborated with artists from Singapore, Indonesia, Germany and the USA in the past. Altoduo’s unique style has earned widespread attention, having tracks featured on podcasts, music blogs and notable playlists internationally. They’ve been invited to play at the Singapore Esplanade’s venues and also been recently invited to play in the most sought after F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2022.
Altoduo’s shapeshifting disposition sees a transition from the aesthetics of a summer breeze to an urban nocturne depicting a vulnerable and down-to-earth side of the members, while revealing their unflinching, conceptual nature found in their songwriting forays. Their most recent single featured a combination of nostalgia & a favourite snack that Singaporeans love.
